⭐ Workshop Overview
What is acting? What are the secrets to great performance? What is theatrical thinking? How do film and stage actors differ? How can one become a professional actor? Dr. Yan Yongqi from the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing will guide participants through the core principles of Russian drama master Stanislavski’s acting system. By engaging in individual and group creative tasks, participants will uncover the essence of acting and gain the key to unlocking the door to the art of performance.

The first Malaysian to obtain a doctoral degree in drama in China. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, he specialises in performance teaching using the methods of Konstantin Stanislavski, the Acting Method, and improvisational comedy. He has directed nearly 50 theatrical works to date, and his 5-hour play “The Ring of the Nibelung” is the first epic theatre production in Malaysian theatre history, earning him the Best Director award for the seventh time. He is one of the most important theatre directors in Malaysia in the 21st century. In 2022, he was named one of the most influential directors in the “40 Years of Contemporary Theatre” in China.

首位在中国获得戏剧博士的马来西亚人。教学经验近20年，擅长用俄国斯坦尼斯拉夫斯基的表演体系、美国“方法派”体系、即兴喜剧表演法等手段进行表演教学。至今编导了近50部戏剧作品，编创的5小时话剧《尼伯龙根的指环》是马来西亚戏剧史上首部长篇史诗剧场，为他赢得第七次“最佳导演”殊荣。他是马来西亚21世纪最重要的戏剧导演之一。2022年被评为“中国当代小剧场戏剧40年”最具影响力导演。
